I was born and brought up in NE Lancashire. I visit regularly. Everyone knows it's a poor, economically depressed region. But, with the latest election results demonstrating the substantial racist nature of much of the population it's about to get a whole lot poorer. The region has been loosing population for years. It will continue to do so. No-one wants to live amongst racists. Business won't invest in an area that is ripe for social instability.
