Classy AFC Preston win £750 cash prize at super sixes

The winners on of the ‘Elite 6’ ompetition held at Witton Park 3G Pitches on Sunday took home a £750 cash prize, whilst the runners up were presented with £250.

Tyrhys Dolan signed autographs and posed for selfies with footballers and fans at the event which attracted 16 teams from across the county.

Winners on the day were the multi-talented AFC Preston who stormed through the group stages and hit five in the final despite going down to an early goal to Pingu FC. Aamir Toorawa, who scored a hat trick in the final was named player of the tournament.

In the Europa League final, Cube FC Bolton proved too strong for Cluub 58 (2) with striker turned inspirational goalkeeper Nadir Patel picking up the player of the tournament award.

Cluub 58 (2) were the youngest side in the tournament and got to the Europa final despite playing together for the first time.

At the presentation special awards were handed out to Tyrhys Dolan, Cllr Parvaiz Akhtar and Farook Hussain by organisers.

Khalid Esat organised the event alongside Aaroon Hussain and a team of volunteers.

Khalid said: “We would like to thank all the volunteers from Blackburn Elite for taking their time out during the day. It could not be possible without them.

“Thanks to Star Tissue for lending us the truck which acted as a stage for the presentation.

“Aaroon was great and worked hard to get all the teams here.

“Thanks also to Farook Hussain, Umar Hussain (Romy) and Ismail Esat for their support.”

Khalid added: “It was lovely to see Tyrhys Dolan and Mayor Parvaiz Akhtar who took time to speak to all the footballers and fans. A lot of people were delighted Tyrhys took time out to watch local grassroots football.

“We are hoping to come back again July next year.”
