Two teams from the same town go head to head for the first time in the AMT Lawyers North West Football championships.

Bolton United vs Nomads PLCC (Sunday May 4; 1.30pm kick-off)
Holders Bolton United will be looking to retain the North West football championships this year.  Only Coppice United have won back to back tournaments.  It won’t be easy for the Bolton side who look a less dangerous team than last year and have a few of their most accomplished players missing.
They do have that backbone in place and still start as favourites and the team to avoid. In the league it has been tough slog for the side in the Premier division for the first time but in the past two months they have managed to put a little run together.
They come into the tournament with more of a point to prove this year than last.
They do come up against Nomads, a team to whom they did lost to in a league encounter earlier in the season. Does lightening strike twice?

Nomads have gone one better than last year coming through a bruising little encounter to book their place in the final eight and a derby to savour.

They make-up one of three new sides  taking part in the main part of the tournament for the first time. In the league they missed out on promotion from their division after a mid-season slump saw them lose ground on the leaders.

They recovered late in the season and managed to pick-up a few victories.
They did have a little cup run of their own though but they have to go up another gear here to overcome 2013 champions Bolton United.  They play some great little counter-attacking football and do look good  going forward but they will more than that here.

Remarkably, this is the first time the tournament has had two teams from the same town facing off against each other since the competition began in 2002!  Here’s the hashtag #boltonderby
