Muslim women have taken to Twitter to call for an end to being made to feel uncomfortable about not fasting when they have their period.
Women shared how they felt they have to eat and drink in secret to avoid feeling ashamed.
Women who are menstruating are exempt from fasting and can make the missed days up after Ramadan.
damn it’s so sad we become brainwashed into thinking we should be so ashamed of our periods we have to fake pray

Muslim women shouldn’t have to hide when we’re not fasting bc we have our periods during Ramadan. We shouldn’t be shamed for eating in public. We have to pay in those days afterwards anyway🤷♀️ https://t.co/ZGmG6nWFHl

If you’re unwell you don’t need to fast. Same for children and pregnant women and women on their period. For people on their period you can “make up” however many days you didn’t fast at any period before the next Ramadan starts.

I can’t believe that it’s still shameful in your faith to be a women on her period through Ramadan I think people need to realise it happens for a reason it’s not shameful I hope for Muslim women out there to be treated as equals ❤️❤️

Why shud Muslim woman be ashamed to have a period during Ramadam? Without periods and women non of you would even exist. Give women more respect. #Muslim #women
