A taxi driver was threatened with a knife before having his car stolen in High Wycombe on Friday. 

The robbery, which happened outside Booze Bargain in Desborough Avenue at around 8.30pm, is being linked to another attempted robbery that happened on the junction of Plomer Hill and West Wycombe Road around 25 minutes later. 

In the first robbery, a man - described as being Asian and aged between 20 and 30 years old - was picked up from from outside the Eden Centre in Desborough Road before he threatened the taxi driver with a knife. 

The stolen vehicle, a Peugeot 505, has since been recovered.

In the attempted robbery, a man - described as being Asian and aged between 20 and 30 years old - approached a vehicle at the junction and demanded the driver get out of the car. 

The driver refused and the man fled the scene. 

No one was injured during either incident. 

Investigating officer Detective Constable Alexander Trevivian, of Force CID based in High Wycombe, said: "I am appealing for anyone who saw either of these incidents to get in touch.

"We believe these two incidents may be linked and are appealing for anyone who noticed anything suspicious to call police.
