A classmate of the youngest victim of last week’s air crash has paid tribute to him.

Benjamin Hant, who studies air transport with commercial pilot training at Bucks New University, said he lost two friends in the tragedy that happened just after midday on Friday, in Upper Winchenden, one of who is believed to be fellow Bucks New Uni student Saavan Mundae.

Four men sadly died in the incident, including helicopter pilot Captain Michael Green, who was training Nguyen Thanh Trung, a Vietnamese national who was in the UK for a two-month training programme.

Saavan reportedly died alongside his instructor, named by national media as Jaspal Barha.

Benjamin wrote in a social media post following the crash: “This afternoon I lost two close friends in a tragic air accident in High Wycombe – one of my fellow pilots and my flying instructor lost their lives after their aircraft tragically collided with a helicopter in flight.

“As you all know I fly with these guys and being a pilot is what I’ve wanted to do since I was very young, but it’s hit me hard today.”

Benjamin added: “It’s hit everyone really bad and it doesn't seem real yet but we all need to stay strong and don’t forget the reason we fly.

“These two amazing people lost their lives today but they both died doing what they love and what they believe in.

“My heart goes out to the families of the four people that died today. May you rest in peace.”
