In the last year I have embarked on an incredible and life changing journey – marriage, major weight gain, divorce and a complete change of lifestyle.

I have managed to lose around 56lbs in 8 months by changing my diet and exercise routines.

Keeping my body fit and healthy has now become a passion and as an Asian woman with PCOS – Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome,  (and a personal trainer in the making) I want to share my knowledge with you all.

I get asked all the time on Social media, ‘How do you stay motivated’?

Here are my top 5 tips for staying motivated throughout your journey.

1.Surround yourself with supportive and encouraging people who are fully behind your journey and that are there to pick you up when you’re having a bad day because lets face it, you will have one of those days. We all do!

2.Joining a gym class is a great way of staying motivated, you will meet like-minded people that will support and encourage you to carry on! (Gym classes are also a great workout! I lost most of my weight by participating in classes such as Spinning, body combat, body pump etc).

3. Buy an item of clothing a dress size smaller and try it on weekly, the feeling when you finally fit into it is GLORIOUS! I've had many of those moments.

4. Monitoring your progress is a great way of staying motivated but don't jump on that scale on a daily basis. A scale has the power to zap away your motivation and put you on a downer for the rest of the day!

5. Just remember that numbers are not important.
It’s important to remember and notice all the non scale victories that we forget about sometimes such as feeling stronger, better endurance, clothes fitting better, metabolic rate/BMI improved, more energy, better sleep and a positive mind!

Finding your motivation is so important, because most people that lack motivation tend to give up easily.

Think about what you want to achieve and why you want to achieve it. Set some realistic short, medium and long term goals and surround yourself with like minded, positive people. 3 months from now, you will thank yourself!
