A three part BBC mini-series explores the harrowing experiences of teenage girls at the hands of Pakistani men in Rochdale.
The story is based on the true events of victims of grooming and sexual abuse in Rochdale.
In the first episode new to the area, Holly is keen to make friends but finds herself drawn into a frightening world she is unable to escape - a world all too familiar to sexual health worker Sara.
As her relationship with her family fractures, Holly finds the courage to speak out, but will her nightmare finally end?
The series opener was aired tonight at 9pm and will run for the next two days.
Here is some of the reaction online tonight.
Please don't use this for Muslim hating fodder, individuals were vile but so was Jimmy Saville and Ian Brady #dontstereotype #threegirls

#ThreeGirls is so difficult to watch. These young girls are vulnerable and scared and they're being let down by the authorities

#threegirls are a series of events that needs to be shown. @nazirafzal - a patron of our work brought the perpetrators to account.

#threegirls It is NOT because they were Muslim. It is because they were perverts. Do not let those that tweet hatred twist this.

As horrible as it is to watch, CSE is a real problem and it's important it's being shown and talked about on mainstream TV #threegirls

25 minutes in, but #threegirls has given me faith in the BBC to tackle the most difficult subjects. This could even be a watershed moment.

If you are angry at what's happening in #ThreeGirls consider supporting your local Rape Crisis Centre or Domestic Abuse Service.
