People from different communities, faiths and backgrounds were invited by the Rochdale Council of Mosque’s at its annual 'Iftar' gathering.

The event was held at the Al Quba Mosque in Wardleworth and was attended by over 150 people.

Guests included; the Deputy Mayor Cllr Mohammed Zaman, The Vicar of Rochdale, Reverend Mark Coleman, the Bishop of Middleton Mark Davies, representatives from member mosques, councillors and officers from Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service as well as members of the public.

Dobir Miah, CEO of Rochdale Council of Mosque’s delivered a presentation about Islam, the month of Ramadhan and the reasons Muslims fast.

Tahir Mahmood, Chair of Rochdale Council of Mosque’s commented: “Many thanks to everyone who attended and for making the evening an enjoyable and successful one.

"I would also like to thank all the volunteers and the management committee of the Al Quba Mosque who worked tirelessly, despite fasting themselves, to ensure everyone was fed and for providing a delicious meal.
