THE father and former husband of Bradford woman Samia Shahid, 28, who allegedly died as a result of a so-called ‘honour killing’ in Pakistan, have again appeared in court in connection with her death.

According to reports in Pakistan, Muhammad Shahid, who is being held as an accessory to Ms Shahid’s murder, denied any accusations that his daughter was murdered.

He appeared alongside Muhammad Shakeel, who is said to be accused of both murder and rape.

The court had been due to hear a final report into Ms Shahid’s death, but according to reports, the prosecution said it needed more time and the case was adjourned.

Ms Shahid, from Manningham, Bradford, was buried in eastern Pakistan in July after her family declared she had died of a heart attack.

But, an inquiry was ordered by the Pakistan Government after her second husband, Syed Mukhtar Kazam, publicly accused her family of killing her.

A Pakistani police investigation concluded that Ms Shahid’s father stood guard while Shakeel raped her, before the two men strangled her to death.

A post-mortem examination confirmed she died from strangulation.

Ms Shahid married Shakeel in February 2012 but stayed only briefly in Pakistan before returning to England where she obtained a divorce two years later.

She married her second husband in Leeds in 2012 and moved with him to Dubai.

Her mother and younger sister, both British nationals, are wanted by Pakistani police on allegations of abetting her murder.
