Police investigating a racist attack at a former Methodist chapel which is to be converted into an Asian community centre said they have arrested a man.
The chapel, at Quenchwell, near Carnon Downs, Cornwall, was daubed in racist graffiti and a pig's head was nailed to the door after the plans for the new centre were announced.
The words "leave now" and "freedom" were written next to a cross on the church walls.
A Devon and Cornwall police spokesman said they have arrested a 41-year-old local man in connection with the incident.
The spokesman said: "The suspect was arrested on Wednesday evening.
"He was interviewed and bailed to reappear at Newquay Police Station on September 12."
Police are still appealing for information regarding the attack that occurred between Sunday night and Monday morning.
