The UTC Bolton supported Education Achievement Award was presented to student Aysha Sultan at Fusion 2015.

Winners of the annual Awards were announced at a glittering ceremony on Saturday May 30 at Concert Hall, King George’s Hall, Blackburn.

The UTC Bolton sponsored Fusion Education Achievement Award is presented to an individual who has been determined to succeed despite barriers and obstacles.

It also looks to reward those in education at all levels who have the potential to achieve higher than average qualifications and are thus an inspiration to others in their community.

Ayesha who could speak little English when she came to the UK from Syria but now sits at the top of her class.

She said, “I am really honoured for receiving the award. I want to thank Pleckgate High School for their support and UTC Bolton for supporting the Education Achievement Award.

“The motivation I got was from my family and my father – he has always supported and encouraged me.

“It means so much to me and helps me realise that I can do it.”

University Technical College (UTC) Bolton is a new school for pupils aged 14-19 that specialises in health sciences and engineering technologies.

These areas are strengths of the University of Bolton and in demand in businesses locally and nationally. The school has a clear aim to prepare pupils from age 14 for university and employment leading to jobs as doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurse, optician, engineer, computer programmer and many more.
