Pupils and staff at the Islamiyah Girls high school have been celebrating another outstanding year of results.

Sameen Hamid gained 13 A's and a B and is still only 15. She will now go on to study 5 A-levels at college a year before most other pupils.

Sameen received 100% marks in her Maths and Science modules.

Special mention was made for her tutors Zainab Hassan (Science) and Nusrat Mohammed (Maths) for their inspirational efforts throughout the year.

Her father Hamid Chaudhry said, "I was expecting her to do well but she has really excelled."

Just as an outstanding achievement was that of Aisha Hashmi of Burnley who gained 12 A's in her subjects - seven of which were A*s. Aisha will now go on to study A-levels in Biology, Chemistry Maths and Psychology.

Another Aisha - Aisha Frook celebrated getting 11 A grades 5 of which were at A* level. She will go on to study A-levels at St Wilfreds School.

Maimoonah Farhat gained 2A*s, 7A's and 3Bs and Zahra Ridha achieved 6A's, 3B's and a C in their GCSE's.

The school's overall pass rate (grades A-C) this year was 83%.

Mrs Zarina Seedat head teacher said, "We are very pleased with this achievement which has gone up by 11% this year. We did exceptionally well in English Literature, Maths, Science, ICT, Geography, RE and Citizenship.

"The school received their best ever citizenship results this year with 94% passes above grade C."

Mrs Seedat was delighted how the pupils and staff had managed to reach new levels despite the school not having the best resources. It still only has 35 computers which are used by 300 pupils and only one interactive white board!

Mrs Seedat added, "Despite limited funds and lack of state of the art' resources, the teachers have worked hard with their students and have managed with perseverance and commitment to gain outstanding results. Well done to both the students and teachers!

"All our students are continuing with further education and we wish them well in their chosen paths."
