It’s great being a pupil at St Michael with John C of E Primary School. Not only is it an amazing, caring school but we have a great time whilst learning too.

Recently, we enjoyed a picnic to celebrate the Queen’s birthday and the start of the Euro 2016 Tournament. It was a lovely day and we all went out onto the school’s All Weather Pitch to enjoy our meal together.

We then took part in a whole-school challenge for our annual STEM Week – our challenge was to build a windmill which could hold and lift weight. We used recyclable materials and worked in teams.

The winning team managed to design a windmill that could hold and lift over 1kg! We also spent an afternoon cheering on England as they played Wales in the Euro 2016 Tournament. We waved our flags and cheered the team on until the very end!

The fun isn’t over yet.

By A Year 6 Pupil at St Michael with St John CE Primary School, Blackburn

Our school has strong traditions of providing a stimulating, secure and very caring environment for all. We have high expectations and aspirations for every child and are fully committed to ensuring that all children receive the highest quality education.

This is shown in year-on-year improvements in the achievement of our pupils.

We believe that a close working relationship between home and school is vital to support children’s learning.

Our school motto is, ‘learn to learn, learn for life,’ and we work together to develop a love of learning within all of our children. We believe that this, alongside ensuring that our school is a place where children feel supported, happy, respected and safe is the key to success.

You may have seen the fabulous new, colourful playground when you have been passing the school, it has a football pitch, netball pitch, a running track, snakes and ladders and hop scotch to keep our younger children active and healthy.

Mrs Freeman’s class in Year 2 are keeping fit by running 5 laps each day.
This term we have started a free toddler group for pre-school children on a Tuesday afternoon at 2pm, parents with young children are welcome to join this fun, play and learning group.

The sessions are held within our Nursery, where all the age appropriate resources are available.

We also have places available for September in our Nursery for the 15 hours free entitlement, please contact the school office (01254 665190) if you would like to join us in our creative, caring, learning environment where children develop through structured activities.
