A halal South African cuisine restaurant is offering free meals to the first 500 customers when it launches.

Tribez Steak Grill will open at the Peel Leisure and Retail Park opposite Nando’s in Blackburn on Saturday, October 21.

The halal menu is inspired by the foods of South Africa and will be the third Tribez to launch, following openings in Rochdale and Bolton. The 120-seater restaurant was formerly taken up by Jimmy’s Killer Prawns.

Owner Salim Randera said the team were excited at bringing the authentic menu to Blackburn.

He said: “We launched our first restaurant in 2018 and this will be the third Tribez to open. We are now bringing our unique tastes to customers in Blackburn and the surrounding towns.

“It is a great spot and we are sure people will be impressed by the menu.

“Tribez Steak Grill prides itself on serving 35 dry-aged Angus steaks which are so tender they practically melt in your mouth.

“In these testing times I wanted to celebrate the opening and give back to the community. Giving is all part of our culture and we feel there are blessings in doing good.”

The menu features gourmet burgers, steak, lamb chops, Madagascar Peri Peri chicken and Aberdeen Angus steaks. The restaurant also has a range of pizzas on the menu and kids size portions.

Burger names are inspired by Africa and include the Durban Double Chicken Burger, the Zulu Burger and the Masai Burger

All meat served at Tribez Steak Grill are HMC (Halal Monitoring Committee) certified.

Salim added: “So, mark your calendar for October 21, when Tribez Steak Grill opens its doors at Blackburn Vue Cinemas at 12pm.

“It is an opportunity to relish South African braai cuisine right here in Blackburn.”

Meals are on a first come first served basis and includes lamb chops, peri winglets, and crispy chips.

The opening will be a big boost to the Blackburn-based Adhan Group which acquired the Peel Leisure and Retail Park in the town earlier this year.

The site takes in Vue Cinemas, Ten Pin Bowling, Pizza Hut, Nando’s, Dunelm Mill and the large Matalan store.
