A curry chef was showcasing his skills to Slovenia as part of the 'Taste of Britain Curry Festival'.

Chef Shah Ansar Ali, from Bengal Paradise, Hertfordshire was jetted out to Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia after being selected from hundreds of chefs across the UK.

The event organised by the UK based trade magazine Curry Life, British Embassy and Hotel Park, Slovenia, promotes the skills of British curry chefs abroad and introduced diners to the unique phenomenon of British curry, which has replaced fish and chips as the country’s favourite food.

The four master chef delegation led by highly acclaimed Michelin Star chef Dominic Chapman, lays on a feast of favourite traditional English dishes and popular British curry dishes at the food festival in Ljubljana for locals to sample. And they have won fans all over the city of Ljubljana, whose delight in the coming together of tasting Great British Food.

He said, “I have cooked in various competitions, but cooking British Curry in Ljubljana, Slovenia was a real challenge, where curry is not that well known.

“I gave the diners the best of my dish such as Chicken Roulade wrapped chicken with stuffed herbs and spices and that was very well received."
