A BRAVE mother-of-two sent two armed robbers fleeing from her shop when she managed to press the store's panic button.

Narinder Kaur, 39, was working at her family's Newsmarket store in Hurcott Road, Kidderminster just before 9pm last night when two armed robbers entered the store.

One was carrying a baseball bat and the other some form of firearm.

She said: "I wasn't scared at first and when I saw the gun I actually thought it was a prank.

"Then I saw the baseball bat and was scared. I pressed the panic button and they ran off straight away."

"Everyone is saying I'm a hero but I really don't think I am.

"I certainly wouldn't have given them the money though."

She added: "I had a bad night sleep last night. I started to think it could have been a lot worse but you can't give in to these people.

"You can't let them win."

Mrs Kaur said that her family had comforted her after the attempted raid.

She said: "We were all shaken up but we are fine now."

A West Mercia Constabulary spokeswoman has said that one of the men was carrying what is believed to be a replica handgun and the other a baseball bat.

They ran off in the direction of Turton Street, where they might have got into a silver car driven by an accomplice.

Both men were white. One was aged about 25, of fattish build and with a round-ish face, wearing a balaclava, a black zip up hooded top, a light grey jumper underneath with a yellow or white zig zag pattern, and dark jogging bottoms. He had a local accent.

The second man was in his early 20s, of slim build, and wore a balaclava and hoodie.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact DC Phillipa Charlesworth in Kidderminster CID on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
