Mel Sykes joined Executive Producer Sayed Z Bukhari and a host of TV and Film stars at the premiere of Cake - the first British Pakistani film to have it's opening night at Vue Leicester Square.
Guests included Roxanne Pallett Baroness Warsi, QPR owner Amit Bhatia, Naz Shah MP, Northampton Town footballer Kashif Siddiqi, hit record producer Naughty Boy, TV presenter Sonali Shah, cricketer Monty Panesar as well as stars of the film Asim Abassi, Sanam Saeed, Aamina Sheikh, Adman Malik.
The film was shot on location in London and Pakistan and charts the bitter-sweet journey of a family and their eclectic lives.
Cake is a family drama with elements of suspense and romance, It stars Aamina Sheikh and Sanam Saeed who play the role of two estranged sisters who reluctantly reunite to tackle family conflicts.
Adnan Malik also stars in a pivotal role. It is a major feature film and was written and directed by Asim Abbasi, who is known for his award winning short films. It was financed by property tycoon Sayed Z Bukhari, who is based in central London.
Speaking about at the premiere Mr Bukhari said “Cake is a film about love and loss. About ageing parents and siblings. It is a true family drama for all ages and is a breath of fresh air for Pakistani Cinema.”
Mr Bukhari has launched a production company called ZAB films and has a vision for a new wave of Pakistani cinema to be released on the international stage.
Cake is the first co-production of his under this banner.
The film is in Urdu with English subtitles and is set for release in several UK cinemas from 30th March.
