Bolton came through a series of play-offs against Oldham’s Coppice United, Blackburn United and Rochdale’s Wardleworth.

Bolton came from behind to beat Coppice (3-1) before overcoming both Blackburn and Wardleworth with resounding victories. In a thrilling encounter (below) full of incidents Blackburn drew their first match with Wardleworth (3-3).

Halifax Hammers did not have to compete in the play-offs after being invited by the event organisers and will replace a Scottish club who pulled out from the championships.

No side from the region has won the National Asian Football Championships in 17 years of trying (the north west wasn't featured in the first two!) and only one side (in 2006) has made it past the group stages.
