A marriage proposal in front of the Holy Kaaba in Makkah’s Grand Mosque has been greeted with a mixed reception.

TRT reporter Yusuf Akyön popped the question this week after pulling a ring from his pocket reports Arab News.

He said in the video, “We are here in front of the Kaaba and in the presence of our blessed mothers.

“Of course, I am embarrassed of doing this in front of them, but I think what I will do is good,”

.

His fiancée jokingly asked Akyön to kneel while asking for her hand. “Kneel down otherwise I won’t say yes,” she said. The young man eventually kneeled before her.

The reporter though soon received criticism for showing disrespect in the House of Allah and had to reportedly delete his social media accounts.
