LEAGUE TWO: DANIEL Bentley was delighted to keep the first clean sheet of his senior career in Southend United’s 0-0 draw against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
The 19-year-old keeper from Wickford was not called upon too often during his 10th appearance for the first team.
But he was still full of smiles at the final whistle after keeping Rovers’ strikers at bay.
“I’m delighted to have a kept a clean sheet and it’s my first one in a first team shirt so it’s a day I’ll always remember fondly,” said the former Bromfords School pupil.
“The defence and the midfielders in front of them deserve full credit for how they played because I didn’t really have too much to do.
“However, it was just a shame we couldn’t make it an even more memorable day by winning the match, because we certainly had the chances to do so.”
