Film fans are gearing up for the return of Bollywood's biggest star.

Shah Rukh first film in four years - 'Pathaan' - sees the heavyweight star in the lead role as a spy taking on a terror group whose next target is India.

The high-octane spy thriller is expected to be a huge success with the official trailer wracking up 57 million views is just a fortnight.

Shah Rukh is also back on screen with Deepika Padukone who both starred in the epic blockbusters Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express and Happy New Year.

Shah Rukh said: “I came to the film industry 32 years ago to be an action hero but I missed the boat because they made me a romantic hero instead. I've only wanted to be an action hero.

"I mean I love DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) and I love Rahul and Raj and all these good sweet boys but I always thought I was an action hero, so for me it is it's my dream come true.”

Vue Cinemas who showcase Bollywood films throughout the year said the long-awaited return was something fans had been looking forward too.

Head of screen content at Vue Entertainment, Robert Lea said: ‘If the hype is anything to go by, we can expect great things from the release of Pathaan.

‘It’s one of many South Asian films to be shown at Vue so far this year – with lots more in the pipeline for fans of Bollywood to enjoy.

The cinema chain said coming up next month is Kali Jotta, directed by Vijay Kuma Arora and starring Neeru Bajwa, Satinder Sartaaj and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles.

Also out in Febraury is Shehzada, which tells the story of Bantu, who has been hated by his father for as long as he can remember – only to find out as an adult he was switched at birth.
