A flurry of bright colour, Indian dance and hypnotic music is coming to Hounslow for a one-off show next week.

The Kathakali Extravaganza tells the stories from the ancient Hindu epics, The Mahabharata and The Ramayana, using extraordinary costumes and intricate make-up of gods, kings, devils and princesses.

The Paul Robeson Theatre will be hosting the only date in London of this spectacular show, by the Kala Chethena Kathakali company on Thursday, November 16.

Kathakali embraces drama, dance, music, visual arts and ritual to create one of the world's most visually-exciting forms of theatre, which originated in the temples of Kerala in south west India more than 500 years ago.

Kala Chethena Kathakali is the world's leading company on tour outside their native India.

The Stage newspaper said of their performances: "It is impossible not to find this colourful, entertaining and fascinating.

"The dancers' impressive skill, rooted in years of discipline, remind us of the glory of non- European drama."

Tickets are on sale now for £10 from the CIP box office on 0845 456 2840.

Remaining tickets will also be available on the door for £8.

The doors open at 7.30pm and the performance starts at 8pm.
