THE DAILY MOSLEM: A member of Ukip (UK Independence Party) has been reaching out to the British Muslim community this week by asking them to denounce parts of the Quran.

In a new election ploy to encourage more Muslim members Ukip MEP Gerard Batten has reiterated his belief that British Muslims should sign a declaration denouncing certain parts of the Quran.

He told the Guardian, “If they say they cannot revise their thinking on those issues , then who’s got the problem – us or them.” Muslims were a little cautious about the charm offensive by the party.

A Muslim spokesperson said, “These comments were made back in 2006 and you would think that Mr Batten would have moved on. It is now 2014 and he still holds the same views so that must be worrying.

“The rest of the country has obviously moved on from spouting such anti-Muslim nonsense.”
