Dear Massi, I'm newly married. My wife is very sensitive and insecure. I have to keep reassuring her that she is attractive and that I love her.

She cries nearly every day because something or someone has upset her.

My problem is that her cooking is causing me problems. She adds too much spice and it's makes my urine and bowel movements burn.

At first I thought it was an infection or something.

But I've realised the burning comes from all the chilli powder.

It's really painful and the burning sensation lasts even after I'm off the toilet.

How do I tell my wife without hurting her feelings and making her cry?

Massi says, This dilemma can be resolved by addressing the issue directly with your wife.

You have already taken a caring stance by reassuring your wife about her insecurities.

Tell her delicately that you appreciate and enjoy her cooking but the only concern is the excess chilli which is causing you pain.

Food can still be enjoyed without chilli powder.

It is better to be honest rather than endure long term pain when using the toilet.
