Dear Massi, I'm really upset. I don't know whether to call off my engagement.
My fiance sent me a WhatsApp message by mistake. It was supposed to go to a group message with his mates.
The message said:"So lads, shall I put some laxatives in her milkshake? Got to do something drastic. The missus eats more than me lol. My rep is suffering with a big girl at my side. Any tips welcome lol."
He realised straightaway that the message came to me.
To make it worse, he tried to pretend someone had hacked into his phone!
Should I tell my parents and call off the engagement?
Massi Says, There is no clearer way to say this: your fiance has no respect for you.
Joking about your weight with his friends is crude, disrespectful and says a lot about his own insecurities.
If he behaves so complacently now, his attitude towards you will certainly not improve after you get married.
You deserve better than to be with someone so superficial, who thinks nothing of mocking the person he should be protecting.
Assert yourself and tell your parents that you do not wish to spend the rest of your life with someone who sees you as fuel for jokes.
