The Grillish has been open a while so we let it settle in before we decided to feature it on these pages.

It specialises primarily in peri peri chicken, ribs and a range of kebabs.

Now, when it opened in Johnston Street, Blackburn, I didn’t think much of it to be honest. Yes, it looked brash and it had that alluring sign.

I have to say I was wrong though.

The chicken here ranks right up there with the very best though. To get the perfect experience one should ask for three pieces of chicken, with some ribs and have it served fresh for you to eat inside.

The salad is freshly cut too which makes a huge difference.

The seating area is nothing to write home about..so I won’t...but one can’t really knock the food here.

Reasonable sized portions and the food comes well presented too. And I’m going to be quite frank here...this is unlike the so-called peri peri chicken some other places serve up.

There is an art to making peri peri chicken. Nowadays you have folk just dipping the chicken in some powder and hoping for the best.

I think there are a few places around where they take their time to make the peri peri chicken as it ought to be.

A good family portion will set you back around ten pounds which isn’t bad these days. Especially compared to some other places in the North West.

It is certainly value for money if you want some food fast and piping hot.

On the whole a good little joint. Loved the BBQ ribs too.
