There is nothing worse than being at the receiving end of unwanted male attention. Well actually, the chat up lines are probably the worst part.

A survey reveals the chat up lines that women abhor the most, yet men, being the sage creatures that they are insist on using include, “I like your dress - but it would look better on my bedroom floor”.

Honestly, whichever woman falls for something as diabolical as that ought to be ostracised from society.

“I'm looking for treasure - can I have a look around your chest.”

Another treasure (yes, I said it), “Your eyes are like spanners - every time I look at them my nuts tighten.”

Pause. Yes, let that one sink for a moment.

One friend was chatted up by a chap in a shisha bar who, despite wearing an engagement ring, insisted that it was okay to ask her out because, “I’m not married yet, innit.”

Although being chatted up face to face almost seems like an antiquated gesture. It’s all about flirting online now.

And no matter how much profit or loss Facebook reports to be making, not matter how fewer people are reportedly using the social media site, salacious behaviour thrives on Facebook.

Facebook and shockingly, even LinkedIn (all Asian women will agree) remains the Asian man’s flirting haven.

From random marriage proposals to dinner requests, to status updates from aggravated women saying “To all those men who keep looking at my profile, stop sending me marriage proposals. I will never say Yes.”

Then there are those guys who have taken text abbreviations to a whole other level.

“Stunning…single?”.

“Gorgeous…married?”.

“Add me”.

Two words and they think they’ll get lucky? Such unbounded optimism.

Here’s a little tip for those men- you know who you are. Being frustrated and looking for love is never going to a recipe for a healthy relationship.

And unless you posses some invisible François Hollande type traits, or want to rebrand yourself as a complete buffoon, no amount of discernible effort will render the following words a success, “The day I saw you, I cancelled my shaadi.com account.”

If in doubt, just don’t say anything at all.
