Tributes have flooded in for an Accrington Stanley safety steward who following his death.

The community is mourning following the ‘devastating’ news of Ibby Hussain’s death with hundreds of fans and friends paying their tributes to Ibby on Facebook.

Ibby passed away on Wednesday (May 3). He has been described as an ‘amazing man’, and ‘one of the best stewards’ who always had a ‘happy smile’.

A spokesperson for Accrington Stanley said: “Everyone at Accrington Stanley is devastated to hear of the passing of long-term employee, Ibby Hussain.

“Ibby was a familiar face around the Wham Stadium, working as a matchday safety steward, and will be sadly missed by everyone at the club.”

One of Ibby’s good friends, Joe Dakin said: “I am shocked and deeply upset to hear on the sudden passing of one of my good friends Ibby Hussain.

“We have known each other since child hood from the youth club together and he truly was the funniest, kind hearted man I've had the pleasure of meeting and being friend with.

“I just want to say what an absolute credit he was to his family and his faith and to everyone who knew him.

“Until we meet again my friend.”

Former MP for Hyndburn, Graham Jones, said: “RIP Ibby. My thoughts are with his friends and family.”

One Accrington Stanley fan said: “RIP. He has been around Stanley as long as I can remember, as a fan, helping and then stewarding.

“Had respect for the supporters and the supporters respected him. Part of the family and furniture especially when the club was at its lowest.

“Top bloke, I'm sure you will be missed by alot of people Ibby. Very sad news. Condolences to his friends and family.”
