The Pendle District Cricket League (PDCL) held their first presentation night in two years following a successful season.

Players and officials gathered at Brierfield Community Centre with Chairman of Nelson Town Council, Cllr. Zafar Ali and Cllr Yasser Ahmed handing out the honours. 

Whitfield were honoured with league title trophy and the PDCL annual tournament, whilst Watan CC clinched the Pemberton Cup.

Individual prizes on the night went to Abrar Ahmed who was the Pemberton cup final Man of the Match; Nasir Mahmood from Whitefield CC who with 95 runs had the best batting performance in a cup match and Imran Akhtar from Jinnah CC who took 5 wickets from 15 runs to claim the best bowling performance in a cup game.

The best league game batting performance award was won by Nadeem Ashraf from Whitefield CC for his 7 wickets for just 4 runs. The league’s best batting performance award won by Ash Imdad from Whitefield CC for his outstanding knock of 93 runs.

PDCL Chairman Muhammad Shakeel Butt said: “A huge thank you to team captains, players, Pendle council and league supporters for their continued support to make this season a real success. 

“Our appreciation also goes to officials Rehan Aslam Butt, Imran Akhtar and Ehsan Butt for their huge contributions and efforts to make this challenging season a success. 

“The new 20/20 format, introduction of colourful kits and the use of white balls and has inspired many more new clubs who showed their interest to join the league from next year.”
