Bolton Nomads of the Lancashire Amateur League will take on Bolton United of the Mid-Lancashire League in the 2017 AMT Lawyers Football Championships.

It is the third time the clubs will face each other in the competition. United have come away with two victories. The first a narrow penalty shoot-out victory when they came back from 2-0 down.

Coppice United of the Oldham Sunday League who remain the most successful club in this competition with three wins and four runners-up trophies to their name will play Blackburn United.

Blackburn United clubs play in both the East Lancashire League and the Blackburn Combination League.

Last year’s winners and 2014 champions Halifax Hammers will go up against new side FC Bolton who will be featuring in the tournament for the first time.

Euro Garages of the Blackburn Combination who taking part in only their second competition will play semi-finalists from 2016 AFC Preston.

The Preston side nearly caused a mammoth upset in the final last year when they came from 3-0 down against Halifax.

Asjad Hussain of AMT Lawyers who conducted the draw said: “We are happy to be supporting grassroots football in this way and look forward to presenting the winners of the 2017 tournament with the trophy in May.

“The standard of football is always enthralling the matches continue to throw up surprises.”

Nelson Football Club will host the quarter finals and the semi-finals as in previous years.

Matches to take place 3pm and 6pm kick-offs on Sunday April 30 and Monday May 1.
