A FAMILY has spoken of the shocking moment a car smashed into their home on a Bradford street.

Emergency services were called to Park Lane in Little Horton just after 6pm last night (Monday) after a car crashed into three homes, damaging their gardens and leaving rubble in its wake.

Video footage, from one of the families whose home was struck, showed that a black BMW 320 skidded on the road, came over the kerb, collided with one home, rolled over smashing through garden fencing and a canopy, before coming to rest on its side in front of one of the homes. The footage showed three occupants get out of the car.

As police launched an investigation in the wake of the crash, one of the families spoke about the “shocking” incident.

One man, who was one of the Park Lane homeowners impacted by the crash, said: “You could hear the revving of the engine from up the road.

“Our family was upstairs, my daughter was playing and my son I were playing a game of FIFA, then I heard what sounded like two cars smashing.

“There was a massive thud and you could feel it shook the building. It was shocking.

“I looked outside and you could see the car sitting on its side in front of our neighbour’s home."

His wife said: “There were three people in the car.

“They crawled out of the car, pulled their hoods up and just walked off.

“There was no concern for anyone’s safety and I’m worried they’re not going to suffer any consequences for their actions."

“We had to evacuate the property,” she added. “The fire service told us ‘you have to get out in case there’s any structural damage’.

She said: “They assessed it and we were eventually allowed to go back in.

“But the damage to the property is going to cost us a fortune.”

The car hit the outside of their home and the couple showed the T&A that the impact caused a massive crack in the wall of their bathroom.

“The whole house shifted,” she said.

The husband added: “I’m surprised the car stayed together as much as it did.

“It hit two metal frame fences but still kept going before it stopped.

“To cause this amount of damage to these properties is crazy.

“We are grateful we’re all ok,” he said. “It’s better the car hit the building.

“We were just lucky that nobody was hurt,” he said.

“We so easily could have been killed.

“When the crash occurred at 6.15pm, that is the prime time for us to put the bin out for the next day.

“Our neighbours could have been sitting out or working in the garden.”

The man said the fire service was “quite prompt and very fast” to respond.

He said they turned off all of the gas and electrics and then evacuated their family from the home to assess its safety.

He said the road was cordoned off while the emergency services dealt with the situation.

A recovery truck came and recovered the car and he said everyone had left the scene by approximately 9pm, and the three families were left to pick up pieces.

The family admitted: “We’ve had a difficult night.”

A large police cordon was in place while emergency services worked at the scene.

No injuries were reported, the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service confirmed.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate the occupants who are reported to have left the scene before police officers arrived.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called at 6.16pm yesterday evening to Park Lane to reports a vehicle had crashed into a house.

"It’s reported two occupants of the vehicle left the scene before police arrival.

"Enquiries are ongoing to locate them."

A spokesperson for the service said: "At 6.22pm on Monday, May 20 we were called to an RTC (road traffic collision) on Park Lane, Little Horton, Bradford.

"A car went into a house. No persons injured. We made the scene safe.

"We sent one appliance (fire engine) from Bradford and one from Odsal.

"The police were informed.
