The ILM (International Learning Movement) Community Group of the year award went to the team from Outreach Bolton team who work with disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals.
An active charity and community group which has helped to tackle some of the most pressing problems within neighbourhoods.
Urban Outreach was formed in 1990 and now has 17 members of staff and over 200 volunteers who dedicate their time to the various projects.
The volunteers are active members of more than 80 churches across Bolton.
Among the projects it conducts is ‘Street Life’ where they work with rough sleepers and other homeless people to help them access suitable accommodation.
They humbly paid tribute to the other finalists of the category, “I would think there are some great community groups out there who all doing some fantastic work.
“We are delighted to have won this award. It was a real honour. We are shocked.”
