Restaurants, chefs, takeaways, and caterers from across the UK have been recognised at the 2026 National Curry Awards.

The seventh annual ceremony was held at the House of Lords in London on Monday, 19 October, celebrating businesses and individuals working across Britain's Asian catering industry.

A total of 28 winners were recognised, spanning restaurants from Newton Abbot and Newcastle to Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, and Belfast.

Among those honoured was Bollywood Spice in Newton Abbot, which was named Curry House of the Year, while East 360 Restaurant in Congleton received Restaurant of the Year recognition.

Mehmaan Restaurant in Bexleyheath was named Newcomer of the Year, and The Pavilion in Bolton received the Bangladeshi Restaurant of the Year title.

Haldi Lounge in Urmston, Manchester, was also named Curry House of the Year.

Individual chefs were among those recognised, including Shahid Ahmod of Bombay Restaurant in Leamington Spa, Nurul Ashraf of Vaspian Lounge and Dining in Wigan, Syed Nur Hussain of Spice Lounge in Durham, and Babul Hussain of Ijazz Indian Cuisine in Wrexham.

Other winners included Meat Free Planet in Wolverhampton, named Vegetarian Restaurant of the Year, and Kaani Kaana in Upminster, which received National Takeaway of the Year.

The awards were attended by representatives from restaurants across the country alongside politicians, civic leaders, and figures from the hospitality industry.

A message was also sent from Buckingham Palace on behalf of King Charles III, offering good wishes to those involved with the event.

Event director Abdul Ahad Chowdhury said: "These awards recognise the hard work and dedication of restaurants across the industry, celebrating their achievements and ensuring they receive the recognition they deserve."

He said he believed the restaurant sector continued to provide opportunities for people to build their own businesses and careers.

He added: "Hosting this prestigious event at such an iconic venue also helps inspire younger generations to enter the industry and contribute to its continued growth and success."

Organisers said Britain's Asian catering industry is worth around £5 billion and employs between 80,000 and 100,000 people, while also facing challenges including skills shortages and a lack of investment in training.
