A very common misconception is that women know nothing about football, nor do they watch it. Especially within the Asian community.

If you are an Asian woman, most men would be shocked to hear you enjoy football.

The cliché ‘women don’t know the offside rule’ is something I find hilariou. As the majority of boys I speak too tend to know less about football then I do. I’m sure many other girls can relate to this.

Most boys assume if you’re a girl, you’re not interested in football.

When I have a conversation about football, where the majority are boys, I want to prove them wrong so I show my passion for the game and they are immediately thrown back by how much I really know.

However, I admit I can come across as quite intimidating when I do get going and my debates can turn quite ugly. Ever since I can remember, I am have always been a Liverpool fan.

As my dad always says, ‘she eats, sleeps and breathes Liverpool’. But why Liverpool?

The main reason is my dad is a Liverpool fan and because of him I started watching games and began to enjoy it.

The more games I watched, the more rules I began to pick up and the different teams. The older I got, the more love I had for Liverpool and the more knowledge I had about them.

I looked into their history, the cups they won, the outstanding players they’ve had over the years.

Soon enough I watched every game and I have also attended a few games at Anfield.

In 2005, when I was a petite 8-year-old, I remember watching the most intense, extraordinary game ever. It was an evening in May when Liverpool were playing the final of the Champions League against AC Milan.

We were 3-0 down at half time and we were all devastated the game had turned out the way it had.

Until the second half when we made a miraculous comeback to alter the scoreboard to 3-3.

Extra time came to nothing and it was time for the nail biting penalty shoot out.

We won 3-2 on penalties and were crowned champion of Europe that night, for the fifth time may I add.

That day I knew I would always love this club no matter what, even when we’re not at our best, even when we lose to teams like QPR and Wigan.
