The ViceRoy established in 1987 the Viceroy is owned by Maklis Rehman a Restaurateur with an eye for detail I am told.

What struck myself and two companions (Senors Fayyaz Bharucha and Asif Patel) at first sight was how traditional this place was.

This was old school - the kind of restaurant I had been searching for over a year. And boy was I glad I found it!

We were welcomed with opened arms and seing as we still in the festive mood we decided to speak to as many of our fellow customers as possible to get a feel for the place.

From one table to the next table everyone had nothing but praise for the hospitality and service. All this and we hadn't even sat down to have our meal yet.

First impressions do leave indeed lasting memories.

Now, I'm usually overly critical about restaurant food because my mother always said she could make it better at home.

This menu seemed to have the lot....I counted no less than 25 different starters.

Nowadays most restaurants have cut down on the real delicacies..maybe it confuses the customer. But not the Viceroy. The menu read like a dictionary of dishes., some of which I thought never existed.

We started our meal with The Reshmi Kebab and the Hopper' (which hails from Upi, India). It can best be descrbed as a chicken and fish spring roll.

Our highlight during the main meal included the Fish Kofta curry which came with Pillau rice and Naan. A tad bit expensive but when you're at place like this with excellent chefs you have to make use of their talents.

There are so many places with grand names these days. But the Viceroy Tandoori and Balti quite certainly is in a class of it's own.
