It was always going to be tough finding a place to open my fast. But after much thought I settled for the 197 PFC (Perfect Fried Chicken) which is hidden away in Cardwell Place, Blackburn.

Another smaller version of the take-away is based in Preston New Road, Blackburn.

This place has certainly gone through a lot of changes of late and seems to have its own distinctive character. There felt to be a Seventies thing going on.

It is situated right next to the college, and even has a part-time model working there.

It is managed by the original owner of the Haweli which was once described as the best restaurant this side of Calcutta.' So I was expecting big things of this one.

The menu (which even had a small puzzle on it in case you got bored) had an array of selective dishes at pretty reasonable prices. You can even buy ONE piece of chicken for a quid! Now that's what I call a student special.

I went for the chicken fillet meal, popcorn chicken, chicken wings and special pizza. Whilst the regular food had an edge to it the popcorn chicken was a real eye-opener. The small succulent pieces of chicken in breadcrumbs was impressive and different.

The chicken dishes were a class apart and it was refreshing to go to a place that promises so much and still manages to deliver.

I finished my meal with a hot apple pie and some chocolate donuts. Just when I'd decided this I can't open my fast like this forever in the corner I noticed a section full of Hookah's' for the seasoned travellers among us. The Sheesha's came in 15 different flavours from cherry to Apple.

Whilst I had never even noticed this place until now I am glad I am one of the first to let the secret out.

This is a gem of an establishment.
