Tributes are pouring in for a Bolton man who has died after a crash.

Mian Aqeel died at the age of 59 after being injured in a crash on Halliwell Road late in the evening of Saturday, January 28, while he was working.

Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision between three vehicles on Halliwell Road, Bolton.

He sadly passed away from his injuries a short time later in hospital.

Mr Aqeel has been praised by his mosque for the charity work which he took part in and his passion for helping others around the world.

He has been described as hugely well liked and someone who did a lot of work for charity.

Mr Aqeel was a loving father to four daughters and three sons. He lived with his family in Great Lever.

He had been working as a delivery driver at the time of the collision.

Paying tribute, his family said: "Our father was a respectful, God-fearing family man. He spent his life devoted to his religion, family, and community. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

"Over the years, he has established charities supporting the local community in Bolton and across the world. He always had a passion to help those who are less fortunate, orphans, and widows. One of his last acts was to establish a new charity, Humanity World, which his friends and family endeavour to work upon.

"In terms of his religious work, he ran Radio Ramadan for a number of years and more recently took on segments at Salaam BCR. He worked closely with local places of worship and religious organisations, winning multiple awards for his community work. He has led many pilgrims to perform Hajj and Umrah as a group leader.

"His impact is widely felt across the local and international community today. He was a well loved individual who will be sorely missed by many.

"As a family, we ask for this time to grieve our loss, be together, and remember his legacy and loving memories."

His family have asked for continued privacy while they grieve for their loss.

Shanny Khan, who is on the committee of the Makkah Mosque which Mr Aqeel attended at, was among those to pay tribute.

He said: “He was a member of the mosque which I am a member of.

“He had been involved in the community and charity work for 20 years.

“He would do anything from raising money for people in distress all round the world, helping others wherever they were, trying to do stuff for people who were in poverty stricken areas and raising awareness of these issues.

“He also did a lot of work around education and people who were not able to access it.”

He added: “This happened a few weeks ago, he has been in our prayers.

“He was married with young children.

“It is not just the impact on the community but the impact on his family.

“He has been part of the community for 20 years, he has spent the best part of his life in the Bolton area.”
