Staff at a Preston takeaway donated meals to NHS key workers ahead of the Christmas holidays.

The huge pot of Biryani, burgers and pizzas were presented to staff at Royal Preston Hospital by the Nawaab Takeaway, based on a New Hall Lane.

A spokesperson for Nawaab said, “2020 has been one of trials and tribulations for many.

“This past year has affected lives for a great number of people, those suffering and infected from the Global Pandemic itself but also those whose lives have changed overnight to keep up with the demand of attention needed to care for those infected by Covid-19.

“These very superheroes whom we know as doctors, nurses, midwives and assistants to name a very few.

“Over the past few months we have all witnessed staff and colleagues across the NHS being under tremendous pressure trying their very best to look after those who have been infected by the virus. Staff have been working tirelessly from minute to minute, hour by hour, to make sure that patients are looked after in the same caring way we strive for."

The takeaway said they donated the food for 50 people as a thank you to NHS staff for their hard work and efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.

A spokesperson added, “We at Nawaabs Preston are immensely grateful for that. We have come to expect that NHS staff will go above and beyond to do the right things by their patients and are ready to work long tiring shifts in order to achieve this.

“We are extremely grateful to all NHS staff during this difficult time and we wanted to say a huge thank you to the staff at every level for the work they have been doing collectively and are continuing to do in order to manage this period and working tirelessly to help those affected by COVID-19.

"To show our gratefulness towards the NHS COVID staff relentlessly continuing to provide the comfort and support to patients during these times.”
