A Sikh humanitarian organisation has been delivering hundreds of hot meals to lorry drivers stuck in Kent due to the French travel ban.

Volunteers from Khalsa Aid received an escort from Kent Police as they drove from Gravesend to the M20 to provide 800 meals to the stranded truckers.

In footage shared on social media, Khalsa Aid founder Ravinder Singh revealed that the Coast Guard and Highway Agency also helped them to distribute their cargo.

“The Khalsa volunteers have been out all day and we’re thankful for the Gravesend Sikh temple, gurdwara, for assisting in making this meal – 800 meals and we’ve got much more to do,” said Mr Singh, speaking from the M20.

The meals were prepared at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Gravesend
