Primary school pupils collected thousands of food items to help vulnerable families in Blackburn.

The Olive School’s annual Festive Winter Gift campaign this year aimed to support Blackburn Foodbank and The ARC Project, Blackburn. Generous families and pupils donated thousands of items that formed miniature mountains of food around the school.

Smeena Riaz, Principal at The Olive School, Blackburn, said: “We have been completely overwhelmed by the generosity of our pupils, parents and staff.

“What began as a relatively modest appeal has quickly gained momentum and resulted in thousands of donations to worthwhile causes.

“Despite this being a year filled with challenge for many of our families, they have still wanted to help vulnerable people living in Blackburn.

“We are incredibly grateful to be part of our wonderful and caring school community and would like to thank everyone who has shown their support.”
