Punjabi and folk singing sensations Hashmat Sultana have announced details of their UK tour.
The tour begins on 26 February at Maidenhead Norden Farm Centre for the Arts before taking in Bridport, Coventry and Gateshead among others.
Hailing from Punjab, India, Hashmat Sultana are the most talented Sufi singers to come out of India in the last two years.
Propelled into the limelight in 2016 as part of the Indian talent show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, the duo received rave reviews from Bollywood composers Pritam Chakraborty and Sajid-Wajid for their beautiful and electrifying vocal abilities.
Jaswinder Singh, Director of Asian Arts Agency, said, “We are delighted to present Debut UK tour with Hashmat Sultana Sisters who are a really exciting talent to emerge from Punjab in India.
"Hashmat Sultana will collaborate with five UK based musicians, providing a rare opportunity for audiences to explore contemporary Sufi and Folk music of Punjab at six venues in the UK.”
Their debut UK appearances at WOMAD Festival in 2018 was one of the highlights of the festival with standout performances.
Hashmat Sultana have become a YouTube sensation and developed a huge online audience. 2017’s single Rang has received over 27 million views on YouTube and more recent singles have also notched up millions of views.
Their recent release Qubool A (January 2020), a song for Punjabi film Sufna (Dir. Jagdeep Sidhu), has already achieved over eight million views.
