Twitter users have been ridiculing members of the far right who called for a mass boycott of Toblerone, after discovering it is halal-certified.
Toblerone has not altered its recipe, but some people have taken badly the news that its factory in Bern, Switzerland, achieved a halal certification in April.
The federal spokesman of Germany's nationalist AfD party claimed it showed the "Islamization" of Europe.
Mondelēz, which produces Toblerone, confirmed the chocolate achieved a halal certification eight months ago but nothing esle changed.
In a statement Mondelez said, "The certification did not result in any change to our beloved traditional Toblerone original recipe."
"Due to the inherent nature of Toblerone chocolate its production process essentially meets the halal criteria anyway."
"Most multinational companies have products which are halal-certified."
People were quick to ridicule the boycott call
Hold up, so people are actually mad that Toblerone is Halal certified which just means Muslims can eat it without fear of consuming something against their religion. What in the actual fuck.

Now that I've found that rightwingers want to boycott #Toblerone because it's #halal, I feel it's a great time to remind them of other halal products they should boycott:

- fruit
- vegetables
- eggs
- milk
- water
- air
Now be a good Nazi and stop consuming them.
Nothing has changed about #Toblerone. It contains the same and it's produced the same way. The difference is there's a guarantee that the ingredients haven't been in direct contact with alcohol or pork. Who wants pork or liquor Toblerone anyway?

Despite nothing changing Daily Mail readers still had a melt down.
CHOCOHATE: While the sight of dozens of Mail readers having a meltdown over Toblerone bring certified Halal is indeed hilarious, I have to give the paper credit for the ‘tri-anger’ pun headline. Credit where it’s due. pic.twitter.com/x2AWOT48d5
