A man has died after the car he was driving hit a tree in Manchester.

The Lexus was heading away from the city centre when the accident happened on Princess Parkway in the early hours of the morning.

The car hit a tree near at around 12.25am and the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three men who were passengers inside the vehicle were treated with serious and minor injuries.

PC Paul Shore, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This morning a man sadly lost his life as a result of this collision and we want to understand exactly what happened.

“Thankfully no one else is in a life-threatening condition and we are speaking to the passengers in the car to get their accounts of what happened.

“However, I would still appeal to the public for any information and particularly if you have dash-cam of the incident itself or beforehand.”
