The Royal British Legion has re-launched the ‘poppy hijab’ for this year’s remembrance period.
It follows on from the success of last year’s ‘Poppy Scarf’, which was created by young Muslim fashion designer Tabinda-Kauser Ishaq to help commemorate 100 years since the first Muslim soldier fighting for Britain was awarded the Victoria Cross during World War One.
Featuring a symbolic poppy design, the hijab has the support of the Islamic Society of Great Britain, and helps commemorate the sacrifices of our Armed Forces, past and present, including the 400,000 Muslims who fought alongside British troops in 1914.
All proceeds from the hijab’s sale, which cost £19.99, go directly to the Legion to help with their important work in providing care and support to members of the British Armed Forces, veterans and their families.
