The fusion of rap and bhangra music is a very delicate one and if an artist cannot execute the right balance the track will fail.
In this case, with Cheshire Cat’s contribution, I think this track has been saved from being yet another ‘standard’ bhangra track.
.
However, overall the lyrics and song are ok, fairly fun and ‘happy’ to listen to and upbeat enough to enjoy a ‘shoulder-shake’ dance to.
One thing that I must comment on, is the video, after 19 seconds of which, I was absolutely confused about. I’m not quite sure what the point of the story was, I felt like the video was filmed by one of P.Diddy’s production company’s.
I appreciate they may have wanted to use the video to celebrate the beauty of a woman to complement the song, but we have passed the days where this was only possible by flaunting their half-naked bodies dancing around a swimming pool.
My verdict: As a bhangra song, I can’t fault it and it does what it says on the tin. As for being something that is sure to make me ‘hit the repeat button’, I think this song falls considerably short on fulfilling that claim.
