Crowds of eager fans queued to see singer Tasha Tah who was visiting a newly opened drive-thru café.

The £180,000 Chaayé Paani café is located in the Brown Street car park next to Blackburn bus station and opened in January.

Tasha Tah, who has over 100,000 followers on Instagram, is one of the UK’s foremost Asian singers. Since her debut single ‘Haan De Munde’ was released in 2011 she has achieved success both in the UK and India with her fusion of western and eastern tracks.

Now based in Dubai, her music videos have been viewed tens of millions of times on YouTube. In October last year she was featured on the front page of Grazia Pakistan.

Tik Tok stars Wass and Irfy and Yorkshire boxer Khalid Ayub also met with visitors during a jam-packed evening at the café.

Tasha was welcomed to the café by traditional Punjabi drummers before she spent the evening taking selfies and chatting to fans from across the north west .

Tasha said it was not the first time she had visited the town and was delighted to see so many people come out, “It has been amazing. It feels like the whole of Blackburn has come out today.

“I love coming here because the people are so hospitable, so nice and so friendly.”

When asked how she dealt with her success she said, “You just try your best and leave the rest to God.

“It is truly the people who put you there. I never get ahead of myself and always try to put my fans first.”

Khadija had travelled from Bolton to be meet Tasha. She said: “It was really good to meet Tasha for the first time. We are always listening to her music and she was really nice and friendly.”
