THE DAILY MOSLEM: The Home Secretary Theresa May has revealed new powers to arrest people who think they are Muslim.
The new regulations are part of the government’s drive to crack down on Islamic extremism in the UK.
As part of the new measures anyone thinking they are a Muslim could face an on the spot fine of £60.
A spokesperson for the Home Office said, “Being a Muslim itself is not a crime but thinking you are a Muslim will be.
“The proposals follow our consultations with leading British Muslims who themselves are concerned how this peaceful religion has been hi-jacked by Islamists.”
Many Muslim groups have reacted cautiously to the news however one organisation backed the proposals.
