For several years, Justin Bieber has taken the world by storm with his trademark hair flip and effortless voice.

Whilst being a prominent member of the music industry for the last 5 years, he has picked up a meagre 80 plus awards alongside five chart topping albums.

There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Bieber has worked extensively to get to where he is with no Disney or Nickelodeon platform.

Despite his well earned success, there are millions who have a strong dislike towards the young celebrity.

I find it mind boggling how people think it is socially acceptable to judge celebrities like they are different from us; do we forget they have the same emotions and insecurities as every ‘normal’ person?.

As Bieber is currently the biggest celebrity in the world, it is inevitable for him to receive the most hate as well as appreciation.

Teen girls make up the majority of Bieber’s fandom whilst many teen boys’ have very disapproving views on him.

My initial thought on this was jealousy.

As much as they would like to disagree, any young man would trade their life for Bieber’s in a split second. Driving expensive cars and wearing branded clothes whilst having millions of girls swoon at your every word, who wouldn’t want that? Therefore teen boys find it difficult to like or even respect him – instead negative remarks are thrown at him as soon as his name is mentioned.

‘He’s gay’ is definitely the most common statement used to describe the teen singer except the fact he has been dating pop princess, Selena Gomez, for just over 2 years seems to vanish from their ignorant minds.

Unfortunately, there is also the older generation who despise his bluster because it is seen as arrogance and egoism.

This viewpoint is a lot more understandable since Bieber tends to hit the headlines frequently and primarily for the wrong reasons.

An example of this is the infamous Anne Frank proclamation ‘hopefully she would have been a belieber.’ Many found this disrespectful as the instant reaction was ‘he’s just thinking about his own fame’ except this was far from my reaction.

Some could argue this was due to my bias views on the popstar or maybe it is because I am not as cynical as those who are so hasty to judge?

Bieber is at an age where he is quite reckless and naïve in many ways so times where he says or does things which come across as obnoxious are inevitable.

Although did people forget that he actually went to Anne Frank’s museum?

With all his millions, he could have been spending it on pointless luxuries or partying till the sun comes up, however instead he wanted to visit the museum.

Therefore I think it is only fair to acknowledge this give and cut him some slack. Also by visiting the museum and hitting the headlines, millions of girls were obviously affected and as a result were educated on the holocaust which is an encouraging positive from the predicament.

As expected from the media, Bieber’s downfalls are highlighted and magnified whereas his good points are disregarded.

Believe it or not, he does do other things other than speeding around LA in his extremely identifiable chrome car. Bieber supports several charitable organisations, one of which is Pencils of Promise which builds schools in third world countries and trains young leaders to take action.

However these things are far from what you would find in tabloids (especially TMZ) since they are commendable actions rather than controversial.

Back in February 2012, Bieber visited 6 year old Avalanna Routh who was fighting for her life against a rare cancer.

Since then to late September of last year, Bieber visited Avalanna numerous times and he even invited her to his concert to be serenaded on the big stage.

Bieber gave one of the biggest spirits he knew love and affection during the last stages of her life but despite selfless acts like this, he still repeatedly faces hate.

Recently Justin was booed when he picked up the Milestone Award at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.

He beat megastars Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars but this was the last thing on Bieber’s mind. His reaction to the boos showed he was genuinely upset and he was finding it hard to keep himself together whilst giving his acceptance speech.

This unnecessary act from the public left the young man heartbroken and the response he received will undoubtedly remain with him for long time.

Isn’t it about time we stopped being so judgemental and applauded his achievements rather than belittle him?

Justin Bieber may be the kid who wears his pants a little too low for your liking and he may speed heedlessly but away from all the bravado, he is a talented teenager who puts his all into his music and loves his beliebers so much that he is always prepared to go the extra mile for them.
