A WALLYFORD motorist has been banned from the road after he was caught driving with drugs in his system. Paul Sleigh, 32, was found to have 7mg of Delta-9 – a chemical found in cannabis – per litre of blood after he had been stopped by police on the village’s Salters Road on November 16, 2022. The legal limit is 2mg per litre of blood. Sleigh, of Affleck Rise, pleaded guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Thursday. He also had a not guilty plea accepted to possessing a quantity of cannabis. Sheriff Peter McCormack banned Sleigh from driving for 12 months and fined him £580.
A PENSIONER will be sentenced later this month after he admitted assaulting a woman on three occasions. George Hood seized the woman on the body and bit her on the head during an incident at Links Walk, Port Seton, on September 9, 2020. Hood, 78, then attacked the woman by repeatedly seizing her by the neck at the same location on October 16 last year. He also assaulted the same woman by seizing and squeezing her by the neck and repeatedly biting her on the body to her injury on Boxing Day last year. Hood, of Links Walk, pleaded guilty to the three offences during an appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in February. He was due to be sentenced last week but the court was told that a psychological report which had been called for was still not available and sentence was deferred further to next month.
